Students design, carve, and print their very own stamp. Then, they’ll use it to create a one-of-a-kind greeting card print to take home.
What’s Covered
They’ll start by experimenting with premade stamps to explore how positive and negative space work together in printmaking. After studying how established artists have used stamps and prints throughout history — from woodblock printing to modern linocuts — students sketch and carve their own original stamp design. Once their stamp is complete, they’ll use it to create a custom printed greeting card. By the end of the session, every student walks away with a handcrafted piece of art and a new understanding of one of the world’s oldest creative techniques.
