8th-12th

Get ready for an exciting adventure through the history of farming! Students will dive deep into the 3 Agricultural Revolutions, starting with an exhilarating hike to hunt for wild, edible plants.

What’s Covered

Students will step back in time as they explore a farm and discover how ancient civilizations thrived through innovation in agriculture, and how a food surplus allows specialized roles to develop. They’ll experience firsthand the farming techniques of the past and see how people worked within the limits of their time to survive.

Next, the journey jumps forward to the game-changing developments from the 1500s to the 1800s that revolutionized commercial farming. Students will get hands-on with the groundbreaking tools and technologies that transformed food production and made global trade possible. Finally, they’ll see how modern farming techniques have skyrocketed crop yields and allowed us to feed a booming global population.

But that’s not all—students will tour a cutting-edge farm using state-of-the-art practices and explore a futuristic hydroponic garden, learning how new innovations are turning once-unfarmed land into thriving food sources. This is more than just a lesson; it’s a hands-on, mind-blowing journey into the evolution of food production!

I loved my experience at Pali. In my time as an instructor, I was able to develop many skills in the classroom as a teacher and as a leader. I would highly recommend this position for anyone who would like to start a career in the Outdoor Education Industry.

Impressive! This is our first time to Pali. I have taken students to four other SoCal science camps and I would highly recommend Pali and plan to return next year.
