Timber & Tools: Log Cabin Challenge

Acton
On-Campus
2 Class Sessions, 3 Hours
4th-8th

In this “Log Cabin Challenge,” students will collaborate to build a log cabin using heavy Link N logs.

What’s Covered

One group will use technology, operating a train to move the logs, while the other group will rely on muscle power to transport them by hand. The logs will come with pre-made notches for easy assembly, and the roof will be pre-built. A brief lesson on the historical role of trains in the area’s development will provide context for the challenge. This activity not only teaches history and leadership but also fosters teamwork and problem-solving skills in a fun, hands-on way!

What People Are Saying

I loved my experience at Pali. In my time as an instructor, I was able to develop many skills in the classroom as a teacher and as a leader. I would highly recommend this position for anyone who would like to start a career in the Outdoor Education Industry.

Impressive! This is our first time to Pali. I have taken students to four other SoCal science camps and I would highly recommend Pali and plan to return next year.
