A Farewell to our Outdoor Education Director

Letter from the Director

“It’s hard to wrap up a 4 year experience in a few short words, but as I move on to my next chapter and leave Pali at the end of this season, I would be remiss if I didn’t tell each of you – the teachers and educators – what an honor it has been partnering with you on your outdoor education experiences. You have entrusted me with your students.  You have given invaluable feedback to make the program better and to make me personally a better program operator.

As I leave Pali, I do so with the highest confidence in Emily Bauder, the Interim Director promoted from my Assistant, and the Administrative team. We have collaborated to build the program you all embrace and you should not miss a beat when you return next season. You are in very good hands.

Pali in 6 words: Experiential, Evolving, Fulfilling, Rock and Roll.”

As we say our farewell to our beloved director, we say hello to our new interim director Emily Bauder. Emily’s hometown of West Chester, PA is a big hop, skip and jump to the beautiful southern California mountains, where she can still be close to the ocean.

Emily received  her BS in Recreation and Leisure studies from Gordon College with concentration in Outdoor Education. She has been teaching outdoor education for over 10 years. She fell in love with the outdoors as a child camping and going to the beach with family. She’s spent most of her career in environmental education setting, from completing a year with Americorps, building trails through out the Southwestern United States, to leading sea kayaking expeditions with Outward Bound. Emily has been working on the Pali Institute team since February 2014.
